Create beautiful artwork in the studio of one of the UK's leading pastels tutors.

The classes focus on developing general art skills- for example, using perspective, drawing from still life, proportion and composition. We then also look at particular mediums- pastels, collage pencil etc. We tend to work as a group and develop key areas that we all agree would be of interest or a challenge.

Brantwood, Ruskin's Lake Home.
Join me in the Lake District for a very special workshop hosted by Brantwood at a stunning lakeside setting on Coniston Water. You can also book a room for one or two nights staying in Ruskin's Lodge and have a lovely mini break.
Spend the day learning to create beautiful dramatic skies in pastel. We will draw inspiration from the stunning setting of Brentwood Sandra will demonstrate at each stage followed by one-to-one tuition to help you develop your own evocative sky. You will explore using layers of pastel on specialist pastel paper and can expect to produce two pieces of unique work.

Wednesday 25th April: From Darkness into the Light

Course details: Charcoal is often much underrated or thought of as a sketching material. Sandra has developed innovative ways of working with charcoal on two specialist pastel papers to create finished dramatic pieces. Spend an exciting day exploring new ways of working with this ancient material. . Experiment with these technique using both wet and dry effects to create expressive artworks. At each stage she will demonstrate and explain the process - followed by one-to-one tuition that will ensure you are able to develop your own work and achieve some great results. You can expect to produce at least 3 pieces of work and leave armed with the knowledge that will enable you to continue your work in this evocative medium.
